By the way, in spite of the cute green color, I think this high speed train is not electric. (the overwhelming majority of HS trains in China ARE electric)
Almost every hotel I stayed at in China on this trip was equipped with robots that are used to deliver things to rooms. The robots are frequently used by restaurant delivery couriers so that the hotel can avoid giving random people access to the guest area of the hotel. In this case it was a hotel employee who sent me some gifts. (Out of a combination of kindness, and to coax me to give a favorable review for the hotel online)

organized attack mob who in groups of ten or so would surround Pere saying hello, hello, where are you from? Clearly they were sure Pere had no interest in looking at exhibits!
For years i have noted the emergency smoke masks in hotel rooms. This is just the second hotel where I’ve seen a special emergency flash light mounted in a charger.
Lunch photo taken by guide. Imagined backstory: (Pere’s guide talking to a friend) “Hey, my client is American, and he uses chopsticks! And he does it well!” (Friend’s response) “A photo, or it didn’t happen!” π
(BTW, hope you noticed the “lucha libre” dudes on the Hot Pot bowl!)
